LDC designs lighting for new Toronto Delta Hotel

The Lighting Design Collaborative (LDC) is installing LED lighting on the interior and exterior of a 45-story Delta hotel, using luminaires from Lumenpulse, Edge Lighting and Acuity Brands.
The Lighting Design Collaborative (LDC) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is currently in the process of installing LED lighting on the interior and exterior of a Delta Hotel in Toronto, Canada. The hotel is part of the Southcore Financial Center, a mixed-use complex consisting of the 45-story Delta Hotel and two linked office towers.

The hotel is being designed by Page + Steele/IBI Group Architects of Toronto. The interior of the hotel will utilize Montreal, Quebec-based Lumenpulse Lumenfacade Series of cove fixtures in a variety of spaces and the RGB version will illuminate the wall behind the registration desk. Indirect coves in the meeting rooms and ballrooms will by lit by either Edge Lighting’s white or RGB LED strips. In the two-story lobby, the interior designer has developed a stepped-wood wall which turns into the ceiling. Each step, which is approximately 12-14-feet in height, is grazed by LED cove fixtures. Lutron’s computer-based 7000 system will be used to control the public spaces.

The hotel tower’s exterior will use one LED flood at the base and four LED 10-degree spots running up the remainder of the slot, taking advantage of the straight vertical surface. The entrance to the hotel will be marked by a glass canopy with LEDs embedded in the underside to accent the entry way’s patterned paving. On the building’s fa├žade, a slot on the east and west sides of the building will use five LED spot lights by Hydrel, part of Acuity Brands Inc. LEDs will also illuminate the outdoor crystal-decorated trees for the holidays.
“The Delta Toronto will give travelers what we know they want from a city hotel - convenience, connectivity, and outstanding service,” said Hank Stackhouse, president and CEO of Delta Hotels and Resorts.
